The essence of parkour can be stated simply: it is the art of overcoming obstacles as swiftly and efficiently as possible using only your body. The fundamentals include running, jumping, and climbing and we build on these fundamentals to improve our ability to pass over, under, around and through obstacles with more complex movements.

Washington Parkour is a community of traceurs (parkour practitioners) who connect online and in person to train, discuss and share knowledge about the world of parkour. We practice in the urban and natural environments and encourage creativity, safety, self-discipline, and respect for the community in the practice of parkour. We welcome anyone regardless of experience.

Something great is happening this year for the National Parkour Jam. Because of the great growth Parkour has been seeing, Parkour Visions is cooking up something more than the average jam. While there will certainly be training for our bodies, there will be an emphasis this year on training for our minds with seminars and discussions, as well as community building. The main events will be from Friday, August 13th to Sunday, August 15th, but there will also be training sessions going on during that week. More information and registration can be found at Parkour Visions. The event also has a Facebook Event page if you'd like to add it to your event calendar on Facebook. You can also discuss the event in the forums!
The Auburn class date has been scheduled for this month. As per this thread, the next Parkour class @ Hart's Gymnastics will be on Saturday, July 17th. We are also tentatively having class on the 31st, depending on attendance on the 17th. The pertinent info is below, as well as in the forum thread.

Also, Parkour Visions is holding an obstacle course competition this Saturday, March 13th. The gym will be open from 12p to 10p, with the kids event running from 12p to 1:30p, the adults event running from 2p to 5p and a potluck and open gym for the remaining time. $15 for spectators and $25 for participants. Pre-register for the event here!

While this has been true for the month of November, I'd like to reiterate it here on the front page. In addition to the regular classes at Parkour Visions' Seattle Parkour Gym, there are open gym times from 7p to 9p on Monday nights and 5p to 8p on Friday and Saturday nights. Also, Parkour Visions' Seattle Parkour Gym is officially open and classes are running there as per the schedule on the Parkour Visions website. The 3rd Parkour Gym in the nation has some great equipment to play on, and they're expanding all the time. Go partake in the hard work of the local instructors there and enjoy!
